The Floyd Central girls’ golf team had a strong showing at the Providence Invitational, led by senior Gracie Giovenco and sophomore Zoe Wright.
Giovenco shot a 4-over par 76, tying for second place individually, while Wright finished with a 77, good for fourth place. As a team, Floyd Central finished with a score of 319, beating out 11 other schools for the tournament title.
Giovenco and Wright have been consistent performers for the Highlanders this season, helping lead the team to a 10-1 record so far. This victory at the Providence Invitational is just another example of their skill and determination on the golf course.
The team’s head coach, Nick Field, praised their efforts, saying, “They are just great competitors and they make each other better. They work hard and have a great work ethic.”
Golf is often seen as a male-dominated sport, but these girls are breaking barriers and proving that they have just as much talent and drive as their male counterparts. It’s inspiring to see young women excelling in a sport that has traditionally been seen as a “boys’ club.”
Not only did Giovenco and Wright have a strong showing individually, but the team as a whole also performed exceptionally well. This victory is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and it’s great to see them being recognized for their achievements.
Congratulations to the Floyd Central girls’ golf team on their victory at the Providence Invitational. Keep breaking records and making your mark in the world of golf! Read More!
