The Daily Journal recently released a roundup of local sports news for the week of September 19. From high school football to cross country, there were plenty of exciting competitions taking place in our community.
One standout event was the high school football game between Franklin and Martinsville. Franklin came out on top with a 14-7 victory, thanks to a strong defense and a late touchdown. It was an intense and hard-fought game, with both teams displaying their skills and determination.
In cross country, the Center Grove Invitational saw some impressive performances from local teams. The Franklin girls’ team took first place, while the Indian Creek boys’ team placed third. It’s always exciting to see our young athletes pushing themselves and achieving success on the field.
In other news, the Greenwood boys’ tennis team continues to dominate their opponents with a perfect 12-0 record. They have their sights set on a strong finish to the season and a possible state championship title.
And finally, the Franklin College women’s soccer team is off to a strong start with a 4-2 record. They have been working hard and it’s paying off on the field. We wish them the best of luck as they continue their season.
It’s great to see our local sports teams and athletes thriving and making a name for themselves. Whether it’s football, cross country, tennis, or soccer, there is no shortage of talent and determination in our community.
