Chef Michael Morefield, a Lexington native, has returned to his roots by opening a new restaurant in his hometown. After gaining experience in some of the country’s top restaurants, Morefield has come full circle and is excited to share his culinary creations with his community.
In 2017, Morefield opened his first restaurant, The Pump House, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The restaurant quickly gained popularity for its innovative dishes and unique atmosphere. But Morefield never forgot his roots and always dreamed of opening a restaurant in Lexington.
Now, that dream has become a reality with the opening of his new restaurant, named simply Morefield’s. The menu boasts a mix of southern comfort food and elevated dishes, all made with locally sourced ingredients. Some highlights include the fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and a variety of wood-fired pizzas.
But Morefield’s is more than just a restaurant. It’s a tribute to the community that shaped him as a chef and as a person. The walls are adorned with photos and memorabilia from Morefield’s childhood, and the restaurant is adorned with local art and decor.
Morefield hopes that his restaurant will not only be a place for people to enjoy delicious food, but also a gathering place for the community. He plans to host events and give back to local organizations, all while showcasing the best of Lexington’s culinary scene.
For Morefield, opening a restaurant in his hometown is more than just a business venture, it’s a way to give back and share his passion for food with the place that means the most to him. So if you’re in the Lexington area, be sure to stop by Morefield’s and support a local chef who has truly come full circle. Read More!
